Xournal++, the free open-source open source handwriting app and PDF annotator, released new 1.3.6 version today for Linux, Windows, and macOS.
The new version of this GTK3 based application added official installer package for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, though Ubuntu has already included the app (an old version) in the system repository.
Besides the new LTS support, there’s no other big changes, but mostly bug-fixes, translation updates, and other minor updates.
It updated the cmake config file to support the new libxml2-16 dependency library name. So users and PPA maintainers can build it in most recent Debian releases and Ubuntu 26.04 without manually add patch for it.
For advanced users who write plugins for specific functions, this version can now properly enable or disable copy/cut actions when selecting text in Text Edition mode, and the mutual exclusion locks is added for lua write functions to avoid crashes.
Other changes include fix for laser pointer configuration assigned to button to make sure the color settings are preserved, fix for audio recording could not start issue due to “System default” audio device resolving to null device, as well as fixes for a few crashes and compilation warnings.
